AMMAN (Star)—Al-Fuhais Municipality is organizing a public festival from December 17 – 23, to celebrate Christmas, which includes a 26m Christmas tree, a huge cavern with real-size personas; the two events are the biggest in the Middle East.
The tree was lighted on December 17, under the patronage of HRH Prince Raad Bin Zaid; people from Fuhais and visitors went on marching, accompanied by Christmas carols.
In addition, part of the festival is dedicated to kids including distributing gifts to special needs children and others along with showcasing several plays and activities.
The celebrations also feature numerous cultural activities including a play, a film about St. Paul, Christmas carols, plus dedicating a day to environment.
According to Amin Ziadat, a member of the preparatory committee of the festival, this celebration aims to instill the spirit of joy in the hearts of all regardless of their beliefs; in addition it is a manifestation of the marvelous state of integration and tolerance in Jordan and a message of love and giving.
“This public activity inspires us to feel more spirituality, brotherhood and the desire to help others in times when many things are just too material,” he added
